Meet the Mentors
Founder & Head Coach
Jeff Brink
Jeff founded Steel Ridge Robotics in August of 2016. He was inspired to look into FRC when a graduating senior who had recently moved to Ridgefield mentioned FIRST. He had told his class, "Every high school student should be on a robotics team." This strong of a statement encouraged Mr. Brink to check out an off season event and apply for grants. On August 1st he heard back from Diamler about a large grant, and Steel Ridge was born.
Coach
Steve Rinard
Mr. Rinard, Graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Washington State University in 2007. He has been teaching at Ridgefield HS since 2008. Mr. Rinard has taught mathematics and recently began teaching Introduction to Engineering and Design as well as Computer Science Principles. Mr. Rinard currently works with the Programming and Drive Teams.
Controls Mentor
Chad Stryker
​Mr. Stryker is an Electrical Hardware Engineer at Tektronix Inc. in Beaverton, Oregon. At his job, he designs and tests printed circuit assemblies and develops circuitry for electronic test equipment. Mr. Stryker has helped Steel Ridge immensely over his six years with the team, mentoring the Controls Sub-Team. We are thankful to have him here!
Business & Marketing Mentor
Shawna Meyer-Ravelli
​Mrs. Ravelli joined the Steel Ridge Robotics team as the Marketing and Business Mentor. She works at Intel as a Data Center & Cloud Product Marketing Director. She has over 15+ years of experience as a technology executive and go-to-market leader in software, hardware, and cloud.

Software Mentor
Brett Hutton
Brett Hutton is a Software Engineering Manager with vast experience in various companies such as Torc Robotics. Brett manages multiple software engineering teams, develops connectivity solutions for self-driving trucks, worked on vehicle electronics integration, and has a background in engineering and physics.
STEEL RIDGE LEADERSHIP
The leadership team’s duties go beyond those of regular team members. The leadership team makes administrative decisions, plans events, and manages projects. Every member of the leadership team puts in hundreds of hours of work behind the scenes to ensure that the team operates smoothly.
Caden Dalley
President
Caden Dalley is a senior at RHS, this is his third year on the team, and he is the teams President, meaning he ensures communication between the different subteams, mentors, and students. He also makes sure the team meets their season goals and stays organized.
James Haddix
Software Director
James Haddix is a senior at RHS, this is his fourth year on the team, and he is the Software Director, meaning he is in charge of teaching programming and managing all the programming projects.
Colin Hutton
Technical Director
Colin Hutton is a junior at RHS, this is his second year on the team, and he our Design Director, meaning he oversees the designing aspect of our robot.
Lauren Kelly
Technical Director
Lauren Kelly is a junior at RHS, this is her second year on the team, and she is the Mechanicals Director, meaning she works on the mechanical side of the robot in the team shop.
Isaac Proctor
Scouting Director
Isaac Proctor is a sophomore at RHS, this is his second year on the team, and he is the teams Scouting Director. He leads the Scouting team during competitions, and their job is to collect as much information about other teams so we know who's the best team for alliances.
Alyssa Ravelli
Business & Marketing Director
Alyssa Ravelli is a senior at RHS, this is her fourth year on the team, and she is the Business & Marketing Director, meaning she leads all of the outreach, sponsors, fundraising, and school communications.
Julie Ruiz
Pit Director
Julie Ruiz is a sophomore at RHS, this is her second year on the team, and she is the Pit Director. She is in charge of managing our pit at competitions and everything that goes on during competitions.
